Alejandra Benet (ES/USA) is a performance and dance artist, researcher, curator and pedagogue, based in Europe in between Brussels, Linz and Valencia.

Her believe in the interdisciplinarity of fields of knowledge, her genuine interest for learning, inquisitiveness and critical thinking have led her towards realizing all these diverse and mutually nourishing roles.

ARTIST - CREATOR - CHOREOGRAPHER

Alejandra has worked as a freelance artist creating her own work since 2021, exploring different and transdisciplinary formats in numerous pieces. She mixes the languages of movement and choreography with those of, performance, visual arts, installation, and documentary, playing with the intersection and dialogue of those disciplines. Her works have been shown internationally including the Ars Electronica Festival 2022 and 2023.

In her artistic projects, Alejandra works with both dancers and non-dancers, embracing authenticity and the knowledge stored in the body. With her work, Alejandra aims at questioning normativity and using the body to convey complex ideas. The interchange interaction between her practice as dancer and researcher nurtures her work as creator and artist, which give rise to experimental, forward thinking, and conceptually thorough and diverse work. She embraces the chosen research theoretically and through the body and movement, and the reflections and inquiries that come from it, can take the form of written articles or artistic creation.
